About me

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Phil Morley, I'm 31 years old, and I live in Suffolk. My love for photography started when I was about 15 taking photos of anything and everything that moved. I studied photography at Huntingdon College and then moved to a career in press photography. I started on a local weekly paper before moving to a regional daily where I still am today. My true love outside of my job is Landscape photography.

It all started back in 1999 when Jeanna (my girlfriend at the time, now my wife) and I went to Scotland to visit her family. I remember it vividly. It was February with lot's of snow and I turned into a kid in a sweet shop taking photo's of everything. Since then we have made regular visits to Scotland, I have invested in different camera equipment but my love affair with the great outdoors is as strong as ever.

So to camera equipment. I currently use a Bronica SQA with 40mm and 80mm lenses with a standard back as well as a panoramic back. I also have 35mm equipment in my rucksack but it rarely sees the light of day. I pretty much always shoot Fuji Velvia film and occasionally black and white Ilford Delta. I use digital for my press and portrait work but I much prefer film for my landscapes. I still love the buzz of seeing a transparency on the light box. I guess I'm classed as a dinosaur with my use of film, it will get even worse soon as I'm planning to build myself a darkroom!
